Afghanistan, Round One

My Combat Camera team was requested by Nato Air Training Command – Afghanistan to document the progress that the Afghans are making in becoming a professional and sustainable air force.

We spent three weeks in Kabul documenting Afghan pilots, load masters, engineers, gunners and maintainers working with air advisers from five different countries. It was quite the experience. Interacting with so many different countries gives a new perspective on our own culture. I also got the opportunity to meet some incredible Afghans who really want to make their country safe.

After spending Thanksgiving in Kabul, I realized that while I only spent a short time there before traveling back to a safer part of the Middle East, these other airmen will be spending Christmas in a dangerous part of the world in order to help Afghans have a chance to experience the same freedoms we have.
